Be a hero with this outstanding fudge-like gourmet dark chocolate! Waterproof and resistant to high heat, this tasty treat is a hit on the trail. After climbing Santa Fe Baldy one hot summer day and opening a bag of melted chocolate, Clif and Chris came up with the idea for weatherproof chocolate! By encasing gourmet paté in wax, they created a product that was not only waterproof and heat-tolerant, but beautiful as well. When exposed to high heat, the chocolate softens inside its wax casing, but it quickly returns to its original consistency after cooling down. To eat, simply slice a wedge, peel off the wax and enjoy!
Dark Chocolate We start with pure unsweetened chocolate, add pure cane sugar, just not much of it, along with plain old corn syrup (not high fructose). We also use organic butter, half and half and vanilla and enrobe it in red white and blue FDA approved wax to maintain freshness and to make it weatherproof by having a higher melting point than tempered chocolate. The wax is the same used to enrobe cheeses like gouda and bonnie bell and should not be eaten.
Orange Chili Start with our backpackers dark chocolate and add imported orange oil and a touch of cayenne pepper. It is then enrobed with Rastafarian colors – red yellow and green for freshness and to make weatherproof.
Peanut Butter Start with our backpackers dark chocolate and add peanut butter and salt. Then enrobe in red white and yellow waxes for freshness and to make weatherproof.
Raspberry Start with our backpackers dark chocolate and add raspberry and enrobe it with white and pink (raspberry colored) wax for freshness and to make weatherproof.
Mint Start with our backpackers dark chocolate and add mint then enrobe it with white, sky blue and red wax.
